Playa del Carmen is a chic town with fantastic beaches, great restaurants and shopping and is perfectly situated to explore the whole Riviera Maya.
'Playa' has grown rapidly from a sleepy fishing village to a cosmopolitan Caribbean resort with all its associated attractions. It has managed to retain its Mexican character and charm in a way that purpose built resorts cannot.
5th Avenue or 'Quinta Avenida'
Within 5 minutes of our villa is the heart of Playa del Carmen - 5th Avenue, the town beach and the ferry to Cozumel.
5th Avenue runs from close to the Playacar entrance, parallel to the beach and all the way to the north of town. There are numerous restaurants, shops and bars. If you wish, you can be serenaded by the mariachi bands as you dine. 'Quinta Avenida' is everyone's favourite place for an evening walk.

A very pleasant area of shops and restaurants located between the Playacar entrance and the start of 5th Avenue:

The rest of Playa:
Inland from 5th Avenue, (10th and up to the highway), the town should not be ignored: here you will sample a typical Mexican town with a great atmosphere. There are a number of restaurants that offer the taste of Mexico and numerous shops. For your convenience there are also some of the big retail names from home - Walmart etc.!
